He was also interviewed about this, and the interview is also on the DVD, which can be purchased, if you are lucky, at Amazon.com via the link below

Here’s what Sev himself has to say about this auspicious occasion…

I was also one of the lucky people to share the stage with Uriah Heep on that glorious 0ctober night, Singing with them on Lady In Black was the thrill of a lifetime (which is featured on this DVD) , I was also lucky enough to have been included in the interview at the closing of this DVD (I am the bald headed guy being interviewed) LOL

I Live in Trenton and couldn’t believe they were visiting my town and I actually jammed with them the night before the concert at the Slackwood Fire Company Hall in Lawrenceville, New Jersey at a welcoming party for them.(The entire group showed) It was something that I will remember my entire life!!!!
If you want to see a very nice concert buy this DVD. I Bought four of them, <grin>
Here is what he had to say…

“As sevvie well knows, these are my buddies from Lafayette, where we first met, where I played with one or two or three of them on and off for several years, and where I wrote the first song the band ever recorded, Waiting in the Rain, available from some oldies company on an EP even now.

This song is Penny Arcade, a lesser cyrkle song (a semi-cyrkle ????) There were originally four rhondells, and then they changed drummers just like the beatles, and at the end, earle pickens went to med school in chicago (when I went to dental school in chicago) and there were three, playing in the alibi lounge in atlantic city for the summer, when nat weiss and brian epstein walked in. the rest is history.

tom dawes, the musical brains behind the group (the most talented guy I ever knew) died a few years ago from surgery to insert carotid stents, and I see his wife very infrequently. Earle practices breast reconstruction surgery in gainsville, florida, and marty fried is an attorney in detroit. dawes and his wife, ginny reddington, wrote some of the most famous commercial jingles ever, like we’re american airlines, doing what we do best, and coke is it. donnie dannemann, lead guitar, still does jingles, not quite as well known but he has made a good living all these years, and is still in westchester county. in 1995, the 30th anniversary of dannemann and dawes’s graduation from Lafayette, they did an hour show outdoors in Easton, and we all played with them, in and out of various songs, in what I can only describe as the time of my life

Alan Novich”

Waiting In The Rain is available from Sundazed.com, or as a digital download from iTunes. Buy purchasing this song you are generating royalties for Alan

With your help, your Mystery Lyric hosts would like to make each family member’s birthday a little more special.

What we would like you to do is write up a little personal bio about yourself that you feel comfortable sharing with our Lyrics family. This may include any fun or interesting news that is current in your life; your favorite type of music, artist, group or song; or maybe even a link to a new website you’ve created.

Of course, this is strictly voluntary but would be a fun way to learn a bit more about those who belong to this very special group.

If you have something you would like to share, please send it directly to me (theonebuff@aol.com) and I will then forward it on to the appropriate host to be included in their mailing on your birthday. It will also be published on the Mystery Lyrics website

Hey everyone!

This will be happy 49th to me this year. It also marked 25 years in the US Postal Service (yay)

This will be the first time I ever sent one of these birthday bios in (I think). I was born in California and lived most of my young life in the western states of Arizona and California. I have lived in Michigan now most of my life, but I still miss the ocean greatly. Must be why Traverse City is one of my favorite vacation spots. Beautiful views of the Bays there. Stunning! Den is taking me for my birthday next weekend.

Den and I went to Canada this year for vacation and missed the big Toronto G10 riot by 2 days, then we went to Niagara Falls, Ontario and had a good time there. The weather was fabulous, which is always nice, and we did the usual tourist thing. We gambled for about 20 minutes and walked away $185 richer.

I am in relatively good health for my age. Married to a zany fiend from Cleveland, Ohio who keeps me laughing, we have 3 cats (1 inherited from Den’s late mother). Den has 2 adult boys who are both doing well for themselves. The oldest (Nate) has done some print ads as a sideline in modeling as well as a background shot of him in one of the Vitamin Water commercials featuring LeBron James, walking up the courthouse steps behind the reporter, but now that LeBron has deserted his devoted Cleveland fans…. well right now I don’t think bragging rights to that are uppermost in his mind right now.

I have a slight hearing disability. I can’t distinguish words soft talkers say, I don’t hear bells and ringing unless they are loud, so I wear hearing aids on occasion. Sometimes I like not being able to hear what people say . I find I cannot read anymore unless I hold the book or paper out far, so I had to break down and get bifocals. The trifocals or whatever they call that didn’t work for me.

I still can’t read all that well unless I hold something at a certain length. This getting older stuff isn’t much fun sometimes.

It does make me think about retirement. Now if I could just win a big enough Mega Millions Jackpot to retire on I’d be all set.

I’m taking ideas for retirement spots. Not too hot, not too cold, not too buggy, and not too expensive. Any ideas? It never hurts to start planning early. In the meantime I’ve been playing mindless games on Facebook as a way to unwind from the daily grind, so if you need a neighbor for some games just ask

I still enjoy Mystery Lyrics even if I don’t play daily anymore. This is a great bunch of music lovers, I enjoy reading the Answers and Comments immensely, and find I begin to know just a smidge more about music through Mystery Lyrics and that is a good thing.

So thanks (in advance) for the Birthday Wishes.

Sharon

Time for another birthday update .. let’s see… my kids talked me into Facebook last year. I love reading the posts there from friends, plus I keep in touch with family who live in other states/countries. I’ll admit to playing Mafia Wars and Farmville (so if you need a neighbor, look for me). My favorite music is by Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Josh Grobin, Paul Simon, the Eagles, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, CSNY, Barry Manilow (yes I said that) and lately Jason Mraz. It’s in the 90′s every day here in FL, so the a/c runs constantly It’s hurricane season so that means a daily thunderstorm. Given that, I’ll be the pale one at the beach if you’re lookin’. A final thought, I’m closer to 60 than 50 but life is good.

Hi ML family…
I know I’ve been absent the past few months, but life has gotten so busy that I just don’t
have the time to do much of anything….

I’ve been enjoying having my grandsons; Riley 2 1/2 and Harrison 15 months. They are
here with me a couple times a week, and anyone with young children knows how time
consuming they can be…but I’m not complaining, they are the joy of my life.

Not too much else is new with me…another year, another year older, life goes on…I’ll
be 58 this year…days just run together, as I’m sure you know…but I do think of you
fondly and hopefully will get some time to enjoy doing the daily mail again….
Have a great year, and enjoy the summer….it goes by too quickly..
hugs

Hi. I’m flwerchild68 (aka Doreen). I’ve been with Mystery Lyrics for a few years now. I haven’t participated in the lyrics for some time due to an increasing workload, but I enjoy and take advantage of the MP3 sends and consider Mystery Lyrics one of the best groups on AOL. I have had the great pleasure of meeting Sev, Kat, and Mike at Hugyfest and consider them great people.
I live and work in Connecticut and have two grown girls…one, a soon-to-be nurse and the other, a soon-to-be high school math teacher. I have followed pop music most of my life and am very fond of classic pop, rock, and rhythm and blues. Since I signed on to AOL 10 years ago, I have had the opportunity to keep my love of oldies alive through Music Oldies, Forgotten Hits, Music Lab Radio, Mystery Lyrics, Legends, and Amazing Trivia and thank everyone involved in putting it altogether. It can’t get any better than this!

Although she had been campaigning for morality and decency in television since the sixties, she really shot to fame in the seventies, attacking everything that moved including such innocuous programmes as “Dr. Who”, (“teatime brutality for tots”) ”Till Death Us Do Part” (for the use of the word “bloody”) and “Tom and Jerry” for the excessive use of violence.

The situation became somewhat bizarre - The cast of The Goodies, a british comedy trio with a series on the BBC were worried that Mary’s endorsement of their TV series might harm their image and as a result made the film “How To Make Babies by Doing Dirty Things”, Alf Garnett, of the criticised series “Till Death Us Do Part” is seen in one episode reading her book “Clean Up TV” and agreeing with every word, and John Cleese commented in one episode of “Monty Pythons Flying Circus” “Mary Whitehouse has taken umbrage, that could mean a bit of trouble.”

She also had some very peculiar views. In her book “Whatever Happened to Sex” she asserted that homosexuality was caused by “abnormal parental sex “during pregnancy or just after” and being gay was like having acne: “Psychiatric literature prooves that 60% of homosexuals who go for treatment get cured…”

But remember love and love will win forever

She was taken to task by the music scene of the 70s. Deep Purple’s “Mary Long” is inspired by her, and she is also mentioned by name in Pink Floyd’s “Pig’s (Three Different Ones)” on the “Animals” album

Who murdered sex? I’m religious, I’m…

Alex Harvey, one of Britains most flamboyant and certainly most original artists tackled the problem in his own way. On his last album with the Sensational Alex Harvey Band, he dedicated two songs to Mary. One, obviously, was the song Mrs Blackhouse (“Dear Mrs. blackhouse, Mrs. Christian without soul”)

Who murdered sex? It wasn’t me, it wasn’t me, yes it was, yes it was

Unfortunately, youtube hasn’t been very kind to “The Rock Drill”. the only song from this LP to be found there is the instrumental “King Kong” an interesting version of the theme from the original film, featuring Tommy Eyre on keyboards. But have a look and listen to the video from “The Old Grey Whistle Test”. Alex Harvey sings “Next”, and I’m sure this will make Mary Whitehouse turn in her grave…

Who Murdered Sex?
(A. Harvey/T. Eyre/A. Cleminson)
You can spell it out in the daily news , Goodbye old time forgotten blues, And the same old thing on the television, But remember love and love will win forever, Remember love and love will win forever, You can carry that load and shoot your gun. But don’t forget that you just begun, Cause your just the child of your mother’s son. Just remember love and love will win forever. Remember love and love will win forever. Who murdered sex cried the beasts of the field, Who murdered sex said the man at the wheel, Who murdered sex screamed the sword and the shield, Who murdered sex. Not me said the dealer I just buy and sell. Not me said the censor it`s all going well. Not us said the guilty we’re going to hell. Who murdered sex. Who murdered sex. 1 spicy matron owns good looking wolfhound, 2 with husband all tied up, 3 available for bottomless masters and mistresses, 4 with rubber flippers and gas masks ready, 5 tattooed stoker with golf equipment, 6 computerised young farmhand with plastic pack, 7 box number, and send a stamped addressed envelope, 8 7 6 5 4 3 2. But remember love and love will win forever , Remember love and love will win forever, Who murdered sex said the beasts of the field, Who murdered sex said the man at the wheel, Who murdered sex screamed the sword and the shield, Who murdered sex. Not me said the teacher, I do what I can, Not me said the outlaw Alone I will stand. Not me said the harlot, I die without shame! Not us cried my children We’re just starving again. Who murdered sex? I’m religious, I’m… Who murdered sex? Not me, I’m impervious and… Who murdered sex? Not me said the eater It’s too hot to swallow, Who murdered sex? Not me, (yes it was, yes it was). Who murdered sex? It wasn’t me, it wasn’t me… (yes it was, yes it was) Who murdered sex?

Mrs. Blackhouse
(A. Harvey)
Dear Mrs. Blackhouse may God curse you on the ground. You take the blessed crucifix and turn it upside down. You drink the blood of Jesus so gentle, mild and meek, And even He will find it hard to turn the other cheek. Chorus: Can you hear us Mrs. Blackhouse? Do you listen? Are you gonna put a ban on people kissing? Now we’re gonna make a stand. We want freedom in the land. Can you hear us Mrs. Blackhouse? Can you hear? Where were you two thousand years ago? When the babe in swaddling clothes was in the snow? And what know ye of customs, Mrs. Blackhouse, in the East? And what did happen Judas just before the final feast? Chorus. So dear Mrs. Blackhouse, Mrs. Christian without soul. Were you there when the deeds were done and the sacrament was whole? Who protected Mary Magdalene and raised the dead and bones? And remember he who has no sin can cast the firstest stone. Chorus. Chorus. Can you hear us Mrs. Blackhouse? Can you hear? Can you hear us Mrs. Blackhouse? Can you hear? Can you hear us Mrs. Blackhouse? Can you hear?

What we would like you to do is write up a little personal bio about yourself that you feel comfortable sharing with our Lyrics family. This may include any fun or interesting news that is current in your life; your favorite type of music, artist, group or song; or maybe even a link to a new website you’ve created.

Of course, this is strictly voluntary but would be a fun way to learn a bit more about those who belong to this very special group.

If you have something you would like to share, please send it directly to me (theonebuff@aol.com) and I will then forward it on to the appropriate host to be included in their mailing on your birthday. It will also be published on the Mystery Lyrics website.
